Abstract

PERKIM is one of the missionary organisations which is responsible for looking after the welfare of new converts to Islam as well as to teach and guide them in understanding the Islamic tenets and principles. This study focuses on the activities undertaken by PERKIM that affect the Chinese converts from 2001-2011. The research is based on library and field work researches by using investigative surveys, interview and observation. The respondents of the study consisting of 25 persons who have attended the classes organised by PERKIM. The instrument used in the study is the survey form method using the Likert scale and the Guttman scale and then it is analysed by using the 'Statistical Package for Social Science' (SPSS). As a result, it finds that most respondents are able to achieve meaningful understanding of Islam after attending classes and programmes organised by PERKIM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
