Social Psychology of Emotions: Brief overview of the visual and digital turn

Abstract

This article shows the recent scientific contributions in the field of Social Psychology of emotions and the impact they have had in different fields. The objective is to present a mapping to identify new trends and research perspectives. We want to provide readers with a range of different research on the study of emotions in society, focusing mainly on studies that have focused on analyzing emotions in visual and digital environments that have left a great mark on our lives at this beginning of the century. After a presentation of the theoretical-methodological approach, we will show the most emblematic research of the last two decades (2000-2020) that focus mainly on what we have identified as the visual turn and the digital turn in our daily lives.
