Abstract

Pertussis disease remains a major global health problem. Both the public and health care professionals remain poorly informed about the disease caused by Bordetella pertussis. Control is possible. There are now many publications highlighting important immunization strategies to enable significant control of the mortality and morbidity caused by pertussis. © 2007 by the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
