Abstract

Phase pure Ni substituted Co-Mg nanoferrite (Co0.5Mg0.5-xNixFe2O4, x=0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5) powders were synthesized by sol-gel auto-combustion method. Rietveld refined X-ray diffraction patterns and the FTIR results confirmed the single-phase cubic spinel structure of all the samples. Furthermore, all the samples show porous network type morphology. The magnetic measurement results show an increase in saturation magnetization with increase in concentration of Ni in the Co-Mg nanoferrites. Our results demonstrate that the magnetic properties of the Co-Mg ferrites can be tuned via Ni doping.
