Abstract

Objective: To investigate the association between physical mobility demands and social and clinical variables of the elderly living in the community. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study including 52 elderly community residents. The research instrument was constructed based on the theory of Virginia Henderson. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the chi-square or Fisher exact test, with a significance level of 0.05. Results: The mean age was 72.6 (± 8.6) years, 69.2% were female. There was a prevalence of physical mobility demands, with significant statistical associations with social and clinical variables. Conclusion: Physical mobility was influenced by social and clinical characteristics of the elderly in the community.
