Abstract

Condition monitoring of large synchronous generators plays a critical role in power generation systems. It prevents unexpected failure of the systems. About half of the failures in synchronous generators are related to eccentricity fault. This paper presents a comprehensive review of various eccentricity fault diagnosis methods employed over the last decades. The aim is to provide a broad prospective on the status of the eccentricity fault in synchronous generators for researchers and engineers. Finally, a novel index has been proposed in order to cover other indexes deficiency.
