Abstract

This article deals with the static and dynamic tensions in the loop formation of knitted fabrics. The main factors which cause fabric spirality are discussed namely: yarn twist factor and degree of twist relaxation. Regarding yarn influence on spirality it is demonstrated that yarn of the same count and twist level at full twist relaxation cause different degree of spirality in the same fabric. The reasons for this phenomenon are the different fiber properties and different spinning parameters namely spindle speed, and spinning tension. These factors may change the stress-strain curve and the initial modulus.
