Abstract

The terrestrial isopods collected on Ascension Island pertain to nine genera, including the new genus Atlantoscia (Philosciidae), and as many species including the new species Atlantoscia alceui (for Chaetophiloscia pau- lensis Vandel, 1963 nec Moreira, 1927) and Niambia duffeyi. Both the new genus and species are described. All the species were introduced in the island. The discovery of a new species is not surprising considering how little is known of African Oniscoidea. © Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
