Abstract

The objective of this paper is to analyze the potentialities and limitations of an experience related to Green Chemistry education for teachers training in an institution of higher education in the state of São Paulo. The didactic proposal, in a practical way, is based on a social-scientific controversy issue following the approach STSE, which is the simulation of the remediation of the water bodies and the recovery of petrol considering the Brazilian context. The data collected through qualitative research point out that the experience made it possible for the students to understand the contents expressed in this proposal, as well as the reasons to adopt the perspective of Green Chemistry in different contexts and the methodological ways adopted to outline the contents in chemistry which are beyond the learning laboratories.
