Abstract
Hypertension is a problem that can cause death was included in the category of non-infectious diseases. In addition, hypertension is also a trigger factor of heart and stroke. One of the causes of hypertension is the increased stimulation of neurons sismpatik stress response excessive. Meditation is a way to reduce the stress response with relaxation techniques. This study aimed to determine the effect of meditation on blood pressure in elderly hypertensive. The study used a pre-experimental study with one group pretest-posttest design with 20 respondents selected by purposive sampling. The results showed that systolic blood pressure in statistical analysis showed that p = 0.000 (p> 0.05) means that Hypotheses received or systolic blood pressure between before and after meditation therapy significantly their influence. That the diastolic blood pressure in statistical analysis showed that p = 0.001 (p> 0.05), which means that Hypotheses received or systolic blood pressure between before and after meditation therapy significantly their influence. On the basis of that study suggested for health care providers can do considering the results of this study with a health center should have to do this meditation therapy, especially for areas that do not know much about meditation therapy
