Abstract
This article explores the crucial importance of women in upholding global peace and security as part of the United Nations framework. It delves into the development of women's involvement in peacekeeping and security initiatives, reviews historical contexts, evaluates the impact of women’s participation, discusses barriers, and highlights policies and initiatives aimed at enhancing gender equality in peacekeeping and security. Through the case studies and theoretical insights, the article underscores the necessity of women’s involvement in sustainable peace and security, underscoring the importance of gender equality in international relations and providing recommendations for enhancing women’s roles in global peace and security, such as increasing the representation ofwoman in leadership positions within peacekeeping missions to improve the inclusivity and effectiveness of peace processes.
