Abstract

: Spinal cord injury is a devastating event, currently without cure. Much progress has been made in treating the consequences of the initial injury, however, the primary event has no answer. This article will examine and attempt to summarize the vast body of work presently underway to reverse this. As with all diseases, an understanding of the pathology is of first and foremost importance before solutions can be reliably sought. We will start there and proceed to discuss the variety of different thoughts and works presently being undertaken to find a cure. Included in this article will be all known ongoing clinical trials that we are aware of at the time of this journal's publication. With continued dedication and hard work, the solution to this injury, which was at one time believed irreversible, will be with us soon., (C) 2005 Thomas Land Publishers Inc.
