Analysis of architectural design work at small design office considering algorithmization of design

Abstract

It is said that we should consider the possibility of incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the architectural design work. This research was made to clarify today's actual working procedure of design, and the possibility of work being done by AI. We surveyed the actual working procedure with interviews and observations. In the paper we analyzed the results of the survey and made reference to the technology trend of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), while paying attention to AI as well. As a result of the analysis, when the conceivable development of AI is achieved, about half of the conventional works of architectural design systems will still be the designers' obligation to carry out.
