During this timeframe Allergan agreed to take over MAP Pharmaceuticals, the US FDA granted marketing approval to an antisense oligonucleotide (mipomersen sodium) for the very first time, and Celgene released clinical data showing that Abraxane® (paclitaxel protein-bound particles for injectable suspension) in combination with gemcitabine improved the overall survival of treatment-naive patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer.
