Abstract

The raw material crisis in the mid-1980s erupted as a sharp fall in domestic cotton production coincided with an equally dramatic decline in national earnings from oil exports, thus making the importation of cottom and other raw materials difficult. The study also addresses general issues relating to the relationship between industry and agriculture, and in particular the manner in which industry influences social organisation at the agricultural end.-from Author
