Littoral nemerteans from spain. North and north-west atlantic coasts species

Abstract

Littoral nemerteans specimens have been collected in recent years including the second quarter of 1990, from various sites on the north and north-west Spanish Atlantic coasts. They belong to 20 species, 8 of which described and classified here, are new to the fauna of the region: Procephalothrix filiformis, Baseodiscus delineatus, Lineus ruber, L. sanguineus, Amphiporus lactifloreus, Emplectonema echinoderma, E. gracile, Tetrastemma longissimum. The remaining 12 species, previously reported from the area are Cephalothrix rufifrons, Tubulanus annulatus, Cerebratulus marginatus, C. roseus, Lineus bilineatus, L. lacteus, I. longissimus, Micrura aurantiaca, M. purpurea, Prosorhochmus claparedii, Tetrastemma melanocephalum, Paradrepanophorus crassus. On the whole, the sample offers an interesting picture of the nemertean fauna of the N and NW Spanish Atlantic coasts, which appears to be strongly linked to that of Brittany and the British Isles. © 1991, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
