Abstract

The research which related to the diversity and taxonomy of macroscopic fungi in Indonesia are generally using the morphological identification approach. Traditional identification based on character description of macrofungi is often difficult and tricky for amateur mycologist or researcher in Indonesia. It is mainly due to the complex and similar morphological features which often to be burdensome to understand. This paper aimed to assist the taxonomical stuff and macroscopic interpretation of mushroom research in order to expand the macrofungi knowledge through the illustration of external macroscopic features with simple colorful photograph. Data collection was carried out in 2015-2019 at various natural forest areas and tourism forests in Indonesia. An example of morphological assessment of agaric mushroom is provided to explain the stages of macrofungi characterization which required when identifying macroscopic fungi.
