Abstract

Although the literature on risk communication is extensive, the topic remains especially rich for the constantly evolving water industry. Risk communication is about conveying the possibilities of both bad and good outcomes, and there are numerous opportunities where potential risks and customer and community interests commix around water works. From public health protection to environmental stewardship, members of the water sector should appreciate that their work ultimately comes down to understanding and minimizing risks.
