Ontologias e taxonomias: Diferenças

Abstract

The present article analyzes two kinds of representation models of the knowledge, taxonomy and ontology. Its objective is to establish a distinction between the two models, since they had been often utilized erroneously, showing the lack of clarity regarding the definitions. Taxonomies work more in the sense of organizing information and/or knowledge in hierarchical relations between the terms. Ontologies, on the other hand, try to establish semantic relations between concepts, in the form of concept nets, closer to the structure with which the human brain works.
