Abstract

The aim of the study is the adaptation and validation of the Socio-political Control Scale (SPCS-Y) to a sample of adolescents. The number of participants was 393 students in 8th and 9th grades from four public schools in the Northern Region of Portugal, Oporto district. The participants were aged between 13 and 14 years. Confirmatory Factor Analysis was used for data validation. As a result of this analysis, 12 items were retained from a total of 17 items, distributed in the same factorial structure of two factors. The psychometric qualities of the instrument allow us to state that the SPCS-Y is a scale that shows the validity and reliability to assess the dimensions of leadership and socio-political control in adolescents.
