Abstract

The decision of the Department of Energy (DOE) to implement strict energy-efficiency requirements has prompted home-appliance manufacturers to develop new products that do not consume less power sacrificing performance. Among these new energy-efficient appliances are Maytag Laundry Appliances' Neptune front-loading washing machine and a new refrigerator from Frigidaire Corp. that reduces energy consumption by 50 percent.
