Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the knowledge of nursing professionals of a Kangaroo Neonatal Intermediate Care Unit (UCINCa) about the Systematization of Nursing care. We chose a descriptive analysis of a qualitative approach. We interviewed 15 professionals of the nursing team working in the Kangaroo Neonatal Intermediate Care Unit, following a semi-structured script. The analysis of the data followed the steps of content analysis proposed by Bardin. The study considered Resolution Nº. 466/12 of the National Health Council and approved the Ethics and Research Committee of the Federal University of Piauí - UFPI. From the treatment of the results it was possible to structure four categories. Participants described the systematization of nursing care as a method that organizes and qualifies care. Just as they pointed out the inadequate staffing and work overload as obstacles to its implementation. It was observed in the speech of the participants the ignorance about the subject, evidenced by the mistaken idea that the nursing process is exclusive to the nurse. It is suggested to re-evaluate the teaching methodology of the subject and to invest in lifelong education to minimize such problems.
