Abstract
The taxonomy of the species of Pachyserica Brenske, 1897 is revised and the phylogeny is explored by a cladistic analysis based on morphology of adults. The cladistic analysis was performed by a parsimony analysis using 68 characters. Pachyserica results from analysis to be monophyletic, and the species related to Serica nigroguttata Brenske, 1897, which has been asigned in recent works to Pachyserica were associated in a separate clade of Serica. The following formal new combinations result based on the tree topology found: Pachyserica albosignata (Moser, 1915) comb. n. (from Serica albosignata), Pachyserica squamifera (Frey, 1972) comb. n. (from Serica squamifera). Forteen new species of Pachyserica are described from China, India, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam and Laos: Pachyserica balkei sp. n., P. bistriata sp. n., P. bituberculata sp. n., P. cipingensis sp. n., P. collaris sp. n., P. conspersa sp. n., P. desenderi sp. n., P. garoensis sp. n., P. huanglianensis sp. n., P. interruptolineata sp. n., P. janbezdeki sp. n., P. putaoensis sp. n., P. sapae sp. n., P. vorax sp. n. The lectotype of Pachyserica rubrobasalis Brenske was designated.
