Abstract

Since 2013, the UK Legal Deposit Libraries (LDLs) have actively collected, preserved and provided access to e-Journals, e-Books and archived websites acquired under the UK's Non-Print Legal Deposit Regulations. The LDLs are currently in the midst of focusing on more complex content types that have yet to be addressed. The Emerging Formats project is investigating the collection management needs of published works that are created with digital formats that have significant software and hardware dependencies. These include e-Books created as mobile apps, web-based interactive narratives and structured data. This article discusses the collection management challenges of these format types within the framework of UK Non-Print Legal Deposit.
