Abstract

Der Beitrag thematisiert ein kulturgeschichtlich frühes Beispiel für die Konzeption bewusst gestalteter Lebensführung am Leitfaden der Natur. Es zeigt sich, dass die Stoa und in diesem Kontext insbesondere die Philosophie Senecas Natur in mehrerlei Hinsicht zur Orientierung im Handeln heranzieht. Dabei tritt vor allem die der Natur innewohnende Ratio als Grundlage einer auf Einsicht und Vernunft ruhenden Lebensführung hervor. Anschließend werden die Auswirkungen der stoischen Naturphilosophie auf das Menschenbild und die moderne Psychologie diskutiert.Within the frame of cultural history and cultural psychology, the article treats an early example of conducting life deliberately along the code of nature. It turns out that the Stoa, and within this context especially the philosophy of Seneca, relates to nature as a source to guide human action in manifold respects. Accordingly, ratio inherent in nature emerges as the foundation of a life based on insight and reason. Subsequently, the impact of Stoic natural philosophy on the human image and psychology will be discussed.
