Abstract

We report a case of acute portal vein thrombosis (PVT) after a cesarean delivery. The patient was admitted for treatment of severe pre-eclampsia. On the second day after cesarean delivery, the elevations of aspartic aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase were observed. Thereafter, acute PVT was diagnosed with ultrasonography. Although early anticoagulant therapy seems to be effective in the treatment of acute PVT, close observation must be made due to the risk of bleeding. © 2011 The Authors.
