Changing Library Operations: Open Access Policies

Abstract

The article discusses open access (OA) policy in relation to academic libraries, highlighting an OA policy developed by the faculty of the University of California (UC). Topics include similar policies by the faculties of Harvard University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Oberlin College, problems with article processing charges (APCs) in some OA journals, and the creation of the California Digital Library (CDL) as an OA institutional repository for articles by UC faculty.
