TECHNOLOGY IN ADOLFO SÁNCHEZ VÁZQUEZ’S THINKING: AN APPROACH

Abstract

This article proposes the fertility of Sánchez Vázquez’s Marxist thought in order to address the challenges inherent in technological development. We try to offer an approach to the author’s thinking about technology, a topic present in an implicit way in his work. Thus, a still unstudied question is addressed, opening a hypothetic research line in the field of studies about Adolfo Sánchez Vázquez. Our essay is divided into three parts. The first briefly explains his philosophy of praxis through the hermeneutic hypothesis of the «elliptical intellectual trajectory». This hypothesis lets us understand the entire work of the author as defined by two constant concerns: creativity and political emancipation, both of which will define, in turn, the author’s thoughts on technology. The second part explains Sánchez Vázquez’s idea of technology and his concept of «technological rationalism». Finally, the main part proposes three fields for application of the author’s thinking —following the two aforementioned concerns— related to technological development: ecology, the philosophy of work, and socialization of artistic creation.
