Abstract

Sustainable solutions to complex environmental and social issues must prioritize the voices and experiences of those most affected by their negative impacts. Engaging these communities through participatory content analysis (PCA) allows academic researchers to go beyond surface-level quantitative data and gain valuable insights that traditional academia-led qualitative methods - such as thematic analysis, content analysis, and even grounded theory - often miss. This collaborative approach not only deepens our understanding but also leads to more meaningful, community-led solutions that create lasting change where it's needed most.
