Abstract

This paper deals with the taxonomy of the ostracod families Cytherellidae, Cytheridae, Cytheromatidae, Cytherideidae, Krithidae, Loxoconchidae, Paracytherideidae, Cytheruridae, Pectocytheridae and Bythocytheridae from the coral reefs around Lizard Island, northern Great Barrier Reef, Australia. 22 species belonging to these families were found. 7 species had been described from Australian coasts, 1 from the Red Sea and 1 with Indopacific-Westatlantic distribution. 9 species are newly described and 4 species remain in open nomenclature. © 1991 Biologische Anstalt Helgoland.
