Abstract

Having previously examined competitive intelligence (CI) planning and focus and key intelligent needs (KIN), the author now focuses on what needs to go right in terms of CI collection. Covers: Refrain from just gathering information for the sake of having information; Dominance of focus on tactical rather than strategic issues; Ensure that a range of sources is available but test them for credibility; Know what you know; and Make it easy for people to communicate information.
