Abstract
Economic activity cannot solve all social problems through the simple application of commercial logic. So in recent years the States have generated a series of legal stabilization mechanisms that promote foreign investment which is considered a cornerstone for the achievement of development. Colombia issued Law 963 of 2005 which allowed the State to sign legal stability contracts with the primary objective of encouraging foreign investment. This paper presents a comparative law analysis of legal stability contracts in a globalized economy and their implementation in other Latin America countries, as it is the case of Peru and Chile.
