Abstract

Considering the "act eat" as human act par excellence, this article looks for to trace the historical trajectory of the phenomenon of the meal in the occidental tradition, starting of cultural referenciais Jewish-Christians - the Bible - and Greek - Platos Symposium - and to analyze the process of its inhumanization in the context of the after-modern industrial society, as well as its effect in the culture.
