Abstract
There are too much data concerning the increasing incidence of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Some nephrologists compare this situation with "epidemic". Chronic renal failure prevalence is much lower in Europe compared with the United States. We reviewed different studies about difference in the prevalence of this renal pathology and concluded that the incidence of CKD is growing extremely in USA but not in West European countries. The methods used for assessment of the glomerular filtration rate may significantly change the data about prevalence of CKD.
