Abstract

Social workers are professionals committed to society, social justice, advocating for the rights of the disadvantaged, discriminated and our approach is to provide a service of excellence to all the population we impact. One of our main characteristics is having empathy when making interventions which distinguishes us from other professionals, this being the main part in these because it allows for generating trust interventions. As social workers we must develop competencies that enable us to work daily in different scenarios and with different situations. It is fundamental to continue educating ourselves on important issues that impact the life of those with whom we intervene, to be able to accompany them in their processes. This work presents the importance of social interventions with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families. We will present a historical analysis about autism, values and ethical principles, present dilemmas of our profession and social policies that impact on the population.
