Abstract

The nutritional and therapeutic effects of argan oil are described. Components relevant to human health include tocopherols, triterpenes and unsaturated fatty acids (linoleic, stearic and palmitic). Its cardioprotective and cholesterol-lowing properties are discussed. A brief description of the source of argan oil, its life cycle and origins in Morocco is presented.
