Abstract
Background: 3D Printing is rapid prototyping or also known as additive manufacturing, which is the process of creating three-dimensional objects by adding material layer by layer to create objects or structures using computer-aided design and manufacturing. The development of technology in the field of dentistry in the manufacture of dentures is currently experiencing rapid progress, namely 3D Printing technology. As prospective dentists, students must have a good knowledge of 3D Printing technology so that they know the use of 3D Printing for future clinical work when practicing. Objective: The aim of this study was to know an overview of dental students’ knowledge towards the 3D printing technology in the manufacture of dentures. Method: This is an observasional descriptive research with cross-sectional design. The measuring instrument used to measure student knowledge is using a self-designed questionnaire and has tested its validity and reliability using the pearson correlations and cronbach’s alpha. The distribution of questionnaire was done through google form link. Results: The total respondents in this study were 120 subjects. The research showed that the knowledge of students about 3D printing technology in the manufacture dentures in good category was 47 respondents (39.2%), a moderate category was 55 respondents (45.8%) and poor category was 18 respondents (15%). Conclusion: The knowledge level of dental students in Faculty of Dentistry, Trisakti University class of 2018 about 3D Printing technology in the manufacture of dentures dominated moderate category.
