Abstract

We isolated 'Campylobacter hyointestinalis' from the rectal culture of a homosexual man with proctitis. Phenotypic characterization of the isolate was confirmed by DNA hybridization by using the taxonomic spot blot. 'C. hyointestinalis' was previously isolated only from animals but should by considered in the identification of Campylobacter species isolated from humans.
