Abstract

This study aims at investigating the rhetorical pattern of research articles introductions inIslam-related research articles published in Indonesia. The data of this study are taken from journalsacredited by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Highest Education of Indonesia (KemenristekDikti) and analyzed by using Swales CARS (2004) model. The results reveal a different macro structureof research articles, variants of moves placement in the introduction, and the tendency of skipping M2in the articles. Moreover, the research articles also employ paragraphs that do not belong to any movesin Swales CARS (2004) model
