Abstract
The metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have received great attention for their application as catalyst because of their considerable high porosity. In this study, Ti- and Ni-MOFs are synthesized using terephthalic acid as ligands. Ti-MOF and Ni-MOF materials have adsorbent properties. The combination of the Titanium or Nickel metals in MOFs will form ligands that can cause electron exchange in the catalysis process. Besides their application in the process of catalysis, MOF can also be applied in the wastewater filtering and treatment systems that still contain viruses and bacteria from the results of washing the research equipment or the medical equipment used in laboratories or hospitals. The physical and chemical properties of the MOF have been characterized by XRD, XRF, Surface Area Analyzer, and SEM-EDX. The results of the characterization show terephthalic acid succeeded in forming porous ligands Therefore, it can be used as support for TiO2 and NiO as catalysts. The Ti and Ni-oxide nanoparticles are found dispersed and encapsulated in porous carbon. Carbon is very important because carbon is the main element forming ligands. Carbon content in Ti-MOF and Ni-MOF is 64.9%, 59.6%, respectively.
