Abstract
A practical method for the measurement of stress wave velocities in concrete structures is analyzed. Attention is drawn to the fact that caution should be used when estimating the material elastic constants from such results, since elastic moduli values calculated from wave velocities are inappropriate for concrete. Suggestions for the improvement of the experimental technique for wave velocity measurement in concrete are subsequently offered.
