Abstract

Phytochemical investigation of the dichloromethane and methanol extracts of Balanophora laxiflora led to the isolation and structural elucidation of five compounds: pinoresinol (1), lariciresinol (2), isolariciresinol (3), methyl 4-O-β-D-glucopyranosylconiferyl ether (4) and 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5). Their chemical structures were confirmed by spectroscopic methods including IR, MS, 1D-, 2D NMR and compared with reported data.
