Abstract
Nutrient intake is the main factor which influence the beef cattle productivity because from nutrients intake that the animal will attend maintenance and gain requirements. The definition of consumption is the amount of feed freely intake by animal. The capacity of feed intake depends some factors interacts in different situations of feeding, animal behavior and environment. The control of food intake involves hunger and satiety stimulus which operate through several neurohumoral mechanisms, thus, keeping the body weight and reserve of body tissue during the adult life. The maximization of food intake is the key component to formulation of ration and strategies of feeding for optimize the profitability of cattle production. Therefore, to understand the mechanisms involves in this action are indispensable, once behavior data are used to evaluate diets and to suit it with the feed management as formulation of ration and consequently obtain the best productive performance.
