Abstract

Background: NOD1 and NOD2 are innate immune receptors implicated in inflammatory diseases. Results: The CARDs ofNOD1andNOD2bind ubiquitin; mutations that block this interaction increase inflammatory signaling. Conclusion: NOD1 and NOD2 signaling is regulated in part by interaction of their CARDs with ubiquitin. Significance: Understanding the regulatory mechanisms of NOD1 and NOD2 is crucial to defining their role in inflammation. © 2013 by The American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Inc.
