Abstract

The article summarizes the results of a thesis on the challenges faced by adolescents with diabetes in dealing with their transition to adult life in Sweden. Multidimensional support received by adolescents with diabetes from paediatric care became less visible in adult care due to differences in structural and organisational conditions and strategies. Glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels exceeded the recommended level through out the study. Frequent visits in adult care were associated with high HbA1c levels.
