Abstract

Developing a supercapacitor with high energy density and excellent cycling stability has always been a challenge in energy storage research. The high energy is required to fulfil present consumption needs. The above problem can be resolved by fabricating a hybrid electrode consisting of both pseudocapacitance and electric doble layer capacitance (EDLC). Hence, present work includes synthesis of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) modified with bismuth iron oxide (BFO) nanoparticles through a solution-based approach. The results show that BFO nanoparticles are distributed over the rGO nanosheets providing efficient charge transportation during charging and discharging process. The synthesized rGO-BFO electrode exhibited superior electrochemical performance with a specific capacitance of 185 F g−1 and remarkable rate capability with 91% capacitance retention after 2000 cycles in an aqueous electrolyte.
