Abstract
A review. We focus on studies employing immunolabeling and electron microscopy to localize proteases which are crit. for the survival of Leishmania parasites. We cover aspects of leishmaniasis epidemiol., Leishmania morphol., potential drug targets in Leishmania and proteases as targets in Leishmania, highlighting the function and subcellular localization of cysteine proteases, gp63, metalloprotease, and serine proteases.
