Abstract
Introduction: Adolescents aged 15-19 years have many problems with excess nutrition, namely obesity. The problem of obesity has now become a global problem and even the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared obesity a global epidemic. The behavior of teenagers who like to consume fast food and lack of physical activity can be a factor causing obesity in adolescents. Objective: To determine the effect of fast food consumption on the incidence of obesity in adolescents. Method: This study uses the Literature Review method for articles that discuss the effect of fast food consumption on the incidence of obesity in adolescents. Articles were obtained from Google Scholar with the keywords Fast food, Obesity, and Teenagers. The articles used are within the last five years (2019-2023). Result: The article search results obtained 10 articles that match the specified criteria. From these articles, 8 articles showed that there was a relationship between fast food consumption and the incidence of obesity in adolescents, and 2 articles stated that there was no relationship between fast food consumption and the incidence of obesity in adolescents. Conclusion: Consumption of fast food can increase the risk of obesity in adolescents, this happens because of technological developments and cultural changes, which result in changes in eating patterns.
