Abstract
Information technologies (IT) environment of a researcher can include a large amount of computer tools. To raise the efficiency of research process, one needs to identify the groups of users and clarify the functionality of the IT environment for every individual user by considering the peculiarities of the individual's work. The analysis of the structure of a researcher's competence model helped the authors to describe the content and structure of the researcher's as a user's mental model. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.
