Toward an effective targeted chemotherapy for multiple myeloma

Abstract

Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), cytotoxic drugs chemically linked to antibodies, provide a means to increase the effectiveness of chemotherapy by targeting the drug to neoplastic cells. Anti-CD138 ADCs show promising preclinical efficacy for the treatment of multiple myeloma; however, the safety aspects of targeting CD138 have yet to be explored. © 2009 American Association for Cancer Research.
